I recently had the chance to try a Chinese wine.  It is from the 1999 vintage and is called Dragon Seal.  There is no English that explains what kind of grapes the wine is made from....and you thought french labels are tough.  A little searching on the web I found that the wine is from Cabernet Sauvignon and Gamay grapes grown in Huailai County, Hebei Province, by French oenologist.  Initially the aromas were muted but after it opened up it showed of smoke, Chipotles and Band Aids.  It seemed a bit watery on the palate at first, but after the chipotle flavours came out I started to enjoy it.  I don't think this can be purchased in Calgary but given the chance and the right price I would buy and try it again.  And it goes well with Soup-Dump-Lings.
