2005 Castelli - Podere 414
Morellino di Scansano DOC (mo-rehl-lee-no dee skahn-sahno)
13.5 % ABV
Approx $22
The nose and the flavours were both muted and the wine didn't seem very interesting. Tannins were not over the top considering the amount of sediment..it's a 2005 is it supposed to have that much???.
I probably would not buy the 2005 again but I still have a 2004...who knows maybe my palate has changed and I will think the 2004 is no good any more...Hmmm maybe I could write professionally now.2000 Cline Syrah

15.50 - Bin 905
This was really disappointing. I am starting to dislike Cline Cellars. Either my palate is getting more refined or this is just a bad wine. Low fruit...is this even made from grapes? The alcohol seemed so high if felt like drinking cough syrup. I don't pour out a half of a bottle very often but today is one of those days. I am sure you guessed but I won't be picking this up again.
Music Match - Motley Crue(see previous entry)
This winery is essentially an urban winery. It is located on the outskirts of Seattle. So it is no more located in the Columbia Valley as Calgary is located in the Okanagan Valley. With that being said this wine was very good. Very dark in colour with berries, cedar and almost a bacony aroma and those who know me know I like bacon. To sound like a wine snob this wine was well balanced and smooth. I didn't purchase this wine, it was a gift from my sister, but I would definitely buy more and drink it again.

2005 Castillo de Malueda
Bodegas y Vinedos de Jalon
Grenache Tempranillo blend
Calatayud DO, Aragon, Spain
13.5% - $12 - Metro Vino
This wine is a lot bigger than I expected. It could be because its a 2005. It has cola and spice on the nose and not much fruit. The palate is all about tannins, big tannins and not much else, well there could be a bit of red fruits and maybe chocolate but...did I mention the tannins? The wine wasn't bad, the second day I had it open it got better, so it would make me think that it would age awhile and would probably be better, I would buy again.

I was feeling tired when I came home from work and didn't want to make a big meal for dinner, so I decided I would have some Cheerios. The only problem is I can't drink wine with a breakfast cereal. Screw it I am going to do it anyway. Now the problem has changed to, what wine matches with Cheerios? There is milk in it which is sort of like a creamy french dish, so maybe I should have a Bordeaux. You drink Orange Juice with breakfast so maybe I should have Champagne and OJ. Strawberries are good with cheerios so maybe I should have a big fruity Cali Wine. But I am trying to complete this Wine Century Club, where you try and drink 100 different types of grapes, so maybe I should have something new. It's not like there is classic wine paring with Cheerios to make the Cheerios taste better. So that is how I went....something new.
2005 Dr Zen Zen - Dornfelder
When I first poured the wine I notice that it is a bit fizzy...which should cover the Champagne and OJ. From the smell I thought it was corked, but it couldn't be because it wsa a synthetic cork. Can you have a synthetically corked wine? On the palate the syntheticness didn't show up, instead it was slightly fruity, red berries, and it was slightly sweet. The sweetness I thought would be a good match for the Cherrios. Overall I thought the match worked pretty decently but after the Cheerios were done the wine disappointed. Not very complex and not very interesting. I would not buy hte wine again, but next time I have cheerios I am going for a Bordeaux.
